You need to place your order through the National Archives & Records Administration (NARA). Use NARA Form #85 for federal pension records of a Civil War soldier (or their widow) and NARA Form #86 for military service records. I’ll attach the URLs for each form. The website provides instructions for how to order, either by traditional mail using a printed form or through email for faster online ordering. If the attachments aren’t clear, you can simply search for NARA Form 85 and NARA Form 86 online. If you choose to mail the forms, send each one separately.
